Q: Why do I have mosquitoes in my yard?
A: In most cases, you’ll find mosquitoes in your yard because there is a breeding source on or near your property. Standing water provides an ideal spot for mosquito breeding. This can include damp areas or places around your property with poor drainage. Ponds, unused pools, and water features are also common mosquito breeding zones.
Q: Are Asian tiger mosquitoes dangerous?
A: The Asian tiger mosquito is a potential vector for harmful diseases such as Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE), Zika virus, West Nile virus, Chikungunya, and dengue fever. They also bite humans, resulting in those itchy red welts you’re probably familiar with. Just because Asian tiger mosquitoes can potentially cause harm doesn’t mean you’ll fall ill with every bite. Not every mosquito are life-threatening or dangerous. However, all female mosquitoes can bite.
Q: How does Cooper Pest Solutions prevent mosquitoes on my property?
A: We will inspect and treat mosquito breeding sources around standing water, which targets mosquito larvae in its development phase. Treated areas can include poor drainage areas due to depressions in your yard, and other historically damp areas. This highly targeted approach is especially effective in the reduction of chemical usage and exposure to your family and pets. We won't treat areas where there aren't any mosquitos and areas that are not prone to mosquito breeding.
In addition to breeding sources, our mosquito technicians will treat shaded areas such under decks, among other cool shaded areas which are places that mosquitoes rest during the day.
Our mosquito specialists will also treat the perimeter of your property.Q: Can the treatment hurt my kids or pets?
A: The treatment is environmentally-friendly. After the application dries, which can take up to 2 hours depending on the weather, the treatment will not affect your family or pets.
Q: Do you offer a guarantee for the Bite-Free Mosquito Plan?
A: Should you experience an unacceptable amount of mosquito bites in between your regularly scheduled monthly treatments, we will retreat your property, free of charge. This will not affect the number of treatments you receive during the duration of the plan. Although our treatments are highly effective towards stopping mosquito breeding, an occasional mosquito that is breeding elsewhere could land in your yard. This plan is only made to combat the Asian tiger mosquito.
Q: When can I start the Bite-Free Mosquito Plan?
A: Monthly mosquito services are available May-September each year. The earlier you start the plan, the more coverage you will have. However, you can begin the plan any month during this time frame. This plan does not extend past September, regardless of the month in which you begin service.
